In preparation for Maha Shivaratri, a few days prior to the auspicious occasion, the Panchshuls are removed from the Baba Mandir and other temples. This event draws crowds of devout worshippers who rush to touch and offer their reverence to the sacred Panchshul.
The Panchshulas, which are symbolic representations of Lord Shiva’s trident, are taken down from the top of the temples in the temple complex. They are then worshiped on the day preceding Mahashivratri, after which they are installed back in their designated places atop the temples.
During this process, the holy knot (Gathbandhan) of Baba and Parvati temples is untied. A new holy knot is made on the day of Mahashivratri, filling the devotees with excitement as they eagerly await the placement of the red sacred ribbon in the holy knot once again.
