The divine Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple, located in the beautiful Srisailam of Andhra Pradesh, is an enduring place of worship dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati that attracts numerous devotees from around India.

Hindus of both Shaivism and Shaktism sects consider the temple to be very important as it is one of eighteen Shakti Peethas, a center for worshiping Hindu Goddess. Shiva is hailed in this temple as Mallikarjuna and worshipped with his consort Parvati known here as Bhramaramba. Clearly, this place holds great significance for Hindus across India!

As one of the eighteen Shakthi Peethas in India, a visit to Bhramaramba Devi Temple is an absolute must for any pilgrim journeying to Srisailam. Standing atop the majestic Nallamala Hills and ensconced within Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy’s temple complex, this revered shrine awaits your presence with open arms!

At the Bhramaramba Devi Temple, devoted to Goddess Bhramarambika (a form of Goddess Parvati), devotees can worship her in all her eight-armed splendor. Adorned with a silk sari, she stands as an embodiement of Brahmani Shakti alongside a statue of Lopamudra – wife of saint Agastya – and Sri Yantra engraved on the front stone wall for further offerings.

The Bhramaramba Devi Temple is brimming with myths and legends. As per the most well-known one, Arunasura was a demon who had an ardent faith in Lord Brahma. Pleased with his unwavering devotion, God blessed him indestructibility against any two or four legged creature on Earth. Consequently, he caused immense distress to devas and sages alike. Since they were unable to defeat him because of this blessing, they begged Goddess Durga for assistance and protection from Arunasura’s tyranny. In response to their plea, Goddess Durga incarnated as Bhramari or Bramarambika and generated thousands of six-legged bees that annihilated the demon. Eventually, She chose to remain in Srisailam in the form of Bramarambika.
